Exhibition
Simulacrum
Year: 2018
Centro Cultural Tijuana CECUT, Tijuana BC. Mexico
Simulacrum is a project where I talk about contemporary archetypes and stereotypes. It is presented as if it were a stage play following the tradition of the comedy of art: it is a pictorial-theatrical show where the actors, the archetypal models, disguise themselves using masks and act out roles transformed by stereotypes and clichés accumulated through everyday experiences, opinions, slanders, legends and urban myths of people who know them... all this treated by the artist with humor and sarcasm. Each of these masked characters is accompanied by a demon or an angel whose personality is in accordance with the main character. The texts that describe each character are written in Spanish and English.
The exhibition consisted of 13 egg tempera paintings on panel accompanied by 21 illuminated pages written in calligraphy.
