My artworks talk about the binds, the double moral, the atavisms, the “must be”, the separation of body and soul. I express violence through fantasy, black humor and sarcasm.
I call it “White Violence”, i.e., small format paintings depicting characters nicely groomed, with combed hair and perfect teeth, with only a small drop of blood, when necessary, all representing extreme situations. I search for the blood ligatures among human beings, for their same weaknesses, addictions and worries; using subliminal references to satire, dark humor, and blood to explore both human psychology and spiritual lucidity.
Even though you will find many references about my Mexican heritage in my work, the real essence of the themes I depict are inherent to human nature, they become universal. In my paintings I explore many themes: life and death, virtue and vice, love and hate, religion, violence, discrimination, solitude, identity, sexuality.
